Equipment 101
What Equipment do I need as a Player?
USA Hockey has equipment requirements for all players, which includes:
- a helmet with face mask
- shoulder pads
- elbow pads
- breezers (pants)
- protective cup (boys)
- shin pads
- socks (to go over shin pads)
- gloves
- skates
- a stick.
Each player is responsible for ensuring he/she has all the necessary equipment before taking to the ice. If a player does not have all the required equipment, he/she will not be allowed to take the ice per USA Hockey policy.
What Equipment do I need as a Goalie?
USA Hockey has equipment requirements for all goalies 10U and above, which includes:
- Goaltender Pads.
- Goaltender's Glove.
- Goaltender's Blocker.
- Goaltender Chest Protector.
- HECC Approved Goaltender Helment/Facemask.
For 8U and below SHAW offers loaner gear that gets rotated around through the season for players interested in trying out goalie which includes all the recommended gear.
- Goaltender Pads.
- Goaltender's Glove.
- Goaltender's Blocker.
- Goaltender Chest Protector.
- Optionally for 8U and below Quick Change Goaltender Equipment Set can be used as well.
